I just mentioned I was going to convert my Dad’s site to use CSS, so I thought I would add a few of the tutorials that I have gone through.

• Sitepoint - Breaking out of the Box
  • This one really got me interested in CSS and what it can do. I figure I will probably design most of my sites with a box-like look. May not be the best tutorial, but very good information.
• W3Schools
  • This tutorial had a ton of information about CSS, but it was way too much to process in one sitting. It is a very good reference though if I ever need help, I go back there and pick up the information.
• CSS Tutorials .Net
  • Very good introduction of CSS along with a very good tutorial. The best tutorial that I have found so far.

I will probably have more information on CSS after the weekend. I hope this helps out some people.

I have been working a lot on websites lately, obviously not this one, but that will change. I told myself I would finish my Dad’s site before I worked on any of mine, but I didn’t stick to that. I have his site about 70% complete, but there is a lot of maintenance work I want to do on it. I need to fix his contact page, and I need to finish his products page. The products page has nothing on it, and the contact page just needs some validation. I also would like to change his logo a bit as it looks kind of blurry.

The big thing I want to do to his site is convert it to use CSS. I have never used CSS before, but I am looking through a few tutorials, and it seems pretty straight forward. His site would actually be a good candidate for CSS, so I going to take the next few days to convert it. After that, touch up a few things, and I will be done with it. I am also using his site as a starting point for me getting into AdWords. I have never used AdWords before, so I need to run through all the tutorials, but I will probably use AdWords (along with the Yahoo and MSN versions) for his site, this site, and my money making sites.

Money Projects

I have a few projects in the works designed at making me money. One involves the domain I was trying to buy, and then I backordered. That has since fell through as the owner re-registered it, and now I am SOL. I still have the .info domains, and I will be going live with those by the end of next week (hopefully). I am in the process of writing some web crawlers that will help me with two of my money making ideas. More about these after they go live, as I do not want anyone stealing my ideas.

I am also in the process of thinking of a good company name. All my ideas involve my initials, and I just don’t like that. I wanted to come up with a name that I could use on all my sites. I would put Created By:BLAH at the bottom of the sites, and maybe get some business designing other websites from it.

That is all I have for now. There will be more info when more of my ideas go live.

I wrote to GoDaddy.com to ask why they had the domain registered, and the support representative gave me a very information reply:

• 0 to 42 days later the Registrar releases the domain to the Registry
• The domain is held for 30 days by the Registry (Redemption Period)
• The domain takes 5 days to be released
• The domain is available for new registration

A domain is not immediately available after the expiration date. It will take at least 35 to 85 days after the expiration date before Domain Alert Pro will be able to attempt to register the domain on your behalf. Until that time, the domain is not available as a new registration.

I thought this was some very good info to pass along, as I knew absolutely none of this before I emailed GoDaddy. They also said that because GoDaddy is not the only company that backorders domain, I am not guaranteed the domain. There are three possibilites:

1. I successfully backorder the domain, and it is mine.
2. I do not get the domain because someone with a different backorder company registered it first.
3. Since there is more than one backorder, the domain will go up for auction

If Number 3 happens, I am screwed as I am cheap and do not want to pay a ton of money. My only chance is Number 1. Wish me luck.

Here is my story about the new idea I had to make money.

IDEA

I had this idea for a very cool site that I thought would make me a ton of money, but I could not figure out a good domain name for it.  I thought of two different names, but only 1 .net domain was available and no .com domains.  But then I switch it it up and came up with the perfect domain name.  I went to the .com domain, and it was for sale.  I emailed the owner and told him I would spend $15 for it.  I would have went up to $25, but I wanted some bargaining room.  He emailed me back and told me that the domain would normally cost $5,000 - $10,000, but he would sell it to me for $3,000.  I emailed him back (he seemed like a nice guy as he visited this site and said there was some things I could do to optimize it), and I told him I would go $25 tops and sorry for wasting his time.

GoDaddy

I visited the site a few days later, and the registration had expired.  The owner had a few days left to re-register through GoDaddy or the site would be sold or put up for auction.  This made me laugh at the owner as he just let a “$5,000 - $10,000″ domain name slip away, and because he was trying to get me to buy it for $3,000.  I then decided to back order the domain for around $18.  I used a 10% coupon to lessen the amount, but I think $18 is still a little pricey for a back order.  I figured the guy had 10 days to 2 weeks to renew the domain, and if he didn’t, I would get it since I back ordered it.  I was wrong.

GoDaddy currently has the domain registered in their name, and they have the domain parked.  This makes me mad as I want the domain for development purposes, but I can’t get it because they are using it for nothing.  I am going to call GoDaddy tonight, but needless to say, in the meantime, I am pissed.

Anyone have an suggestions on how I can get the domain, or do I just have to wait until GoDaddy let’s it go?

I went over to How I Save Money because I had not visited in a while, and noticed there was a post about Google Page Rank. I have not checked this site’s PageRank in a while to see if I had one, so I went to the instant pagerank checker.  My PageRank was 4!  I only thought I would get a rank of 3, but to my surprise, it was 4.  Hopefully this will open up some more wallets when it comes to the sale of this domain/website.

This may be the last week that I own MoneyBlogSite.com.  I currently have my auction to sell my domain ending Sunday at 7 EDT.  The bid is not as high as my reserve, so it may not sell after Sunday.  Hopefully, the other bidders are just waiting until the end of the suction to throw out their high bids.

I may be posting this week, and I may not be.  The reason I was posting this past week was I wanted traffic to continue to climb, but I also had a few last things to get off my chest.  I probably will be doing another blog, but it won’t be tied down to just money.  It was too hard coming up with money items to right about, especially since I was a newbie at it.   I am, however, going to dive head first into the world on online moneymaking.  I have 3 or 4 good ideas that I will start working on, and if I start another blog, I will share those.
