The wife and I just ran over to Target (I will not link to them, I will explain later) to buy a new TV that they had on sale. They had a 20 inch TV with a built-in DVD player for $99. Well, when we got there, they had a 20 inch Flat screen (not the super thin ones) on sale for $110. The brand was a TruTech, which is Target’s Electronics brand. I did not think that buying a no-name brand would make a big difference, but boy was I wrong.
While looking at the TVs in the store, only a few had a really good picture. Most of the TVs had some bad static, but I figured that was because of the bad cable connection. I see that a lot from stores where the connection to the TVs are so bad there is static on all of the TVs. Something I don’t understand because if you want to sell a TV, I would think you would want the reception to be perfect. When I worked at Best Buy, they always had bad connection, but it made no difference to the people purchasing the TVs. It made no difference to me today.
We bought the Flat Screen as opposed to the TV-DVD combo because I read somewhere that the flat screen is better for your eyes. We also do not watch too many DVDs in our bedroom, and I figured I could always bring a DVD player in there and hook it up. With our last TV basically slowing dying, the reception got worse and worse until there was none, I also wanted the best possible picture quality for the cheapest price. Needless to say, from the title of this article, the TV I bought did not meet any of my standards.
I never did like Target, but my wife loves them. After I heard that Target fired all the soldiers overseas who worked for them and basically treated them like crap, I knew Target was not the best place to shop. After this incident, I probably never will shop there again. No one at Target did anything wrong, nor did Target really do anything, but I just don’t like companies who sell crappy products.  I think companies that do not have these kind of products in their store. The TV has horrible picture quality with shadows everywhere and lines going across. It obviously is better than my last TV, but a brand new TV out of the box should have such a bad picture. Also, if you want to go to channel ten, you have to press a button, then press 1 - 0. If you press 1, it goes to channel one. That is the dumbest design I have ever heard of.
The lesson I learned is that you get what you pay for. I have always been a person who searches for the absolute best deal, and though this was a good deal, it was not the best. The passing of my last TV, and my need to watch TV while I sleep, got the better of me as I raced off to buy the cheapest (cheap being the key word) TV. I have learned my lesson and will start shopping for a better TV tomorrow.35mm slr digital cameras
